Photographers, graphic artists, painters, lawyers, fashion designers and a long list of professionals in New York City you would think every bit of daily life would be filled with a unique take on the everyday. Here’s a few interesting designs from Melanie Chernock’s: The Metrocard Project. Every card plays a little homage to each of the professions in NYC. This would be a interesting souvenir to the millions of tourist that stop in the middle of the street to look up. Thanks. When’s that tourist sidewalk lane going to open up Bloomberg?
The Metrocard Project is an ongoing project that aims to redesign the iconic New York City Metrocard in a fresh way. The project was created by Melanie Chernock, a graphic designer studying at the School of Visual Arts.
For the tourist.

Ketchup is so… is it Chicago or New York? Can’t remember. Well for the classic $2.00 hot dogs that’s been sitting in the water for while.

In our increasingly globalized world, a single infected person can board a plane and spread a virus across continents. Mark Honigsbaum describes the history of pandemics and how that knowledge can help halt future outbreaks.
“How Pandemics Spread” is a lesson by Mark Honigsbaum and was animated by Patrick Blower. Full lesson. Have you seen Contagion yet?

The New York City Department of Records spent the last four years digitally scanning and archiving over 870,000 images of good old New York, New York. The New York City Municipal Archives is available right here. This is a great resource for Photo Editors and Researchers looking for images from New York dating to the early 1900s. Everything from the cobblestone streets being constructed to baseball legend Babe Ruth. And some crime scene photos. Almost all the images have been shot by Municipal employees. Did I mention that these images have “never been seen before”?

Yesterday morning I was at the 62nd Annual Outer Critics Circle Award Nominations at the Friars Club on behalf of Back Stage magazine. The Outer Critics Circle Awards honor the best of Broadway and Off-Broadway. Anne Meara (left) and Jerry Stiller were there doing a playful ‘husband and wife’ banter where Mr. Stiller recalls one point in his career where he was fired from a production of “Richard III” by the Public’s legendary first producer, Joseph Papp.

Meara and Stiller presented an award to Public Theater‘s Executive Director Patrick Willingham (left) and Artistic Director Oskar Eustis.

Tony Award nominee Lily Rabe and Outer Critics Circle nominee Richard Thomas announced the 62nd annual Outer Critics Circle Award nominations. Check out the full list of nominated shows at Back Stage.

Springs here! I spent the day with a friend of mine, Dave C and a few new friends. The last time I spent the day at Central Park was back in College at Baruch. We organized a outing on a weekend for the B.C. Photography Club. I recently downloaded Adobe Lightroom 4. Excuse the out of sync images. I wanted to experiment with the different functions and settings. Still getting used to the new software.

Probably the best part of the entire day. I got to hear these two guys play Johann Pachelbel‘s Canon at the Bethesda Terrace. One of my favorite piece of music.
