State of the Union Address 2012

Probably the best State of the Union Address I’ve seen. President Obama delivers the 2012 State of the Union Address to Congress and the nation. Here are two videos one giving you a behind the scenes look at the process and the people involved in preparing the President to deliver the address to Congress.

Take a look inside the West Wing as the 2012 State of The Union Address is written

The President has been brainstorming with the speechwriters and huddling with the policy team. He’s come up with new ideas, rewritten language, and reordered pages. For President Obama, this isn’t simply an editing exercise. He’s invested in creating the State of the Union because he sees it as his opportunity to take his vision for the country to the American people directly.

Obama’s Spilled Milk joke. I have to disagree with David Jackson’s USA Today article that the joke was a hit and miss. With the majority of the audience (Republican) not moved or in total agreement with the content and vision of the future in the speech, it was a tense and tough crowd. I thought the funny corny joke helped lighten the mood and help break the tention in the crowd. I felt a different vibe after the joke. Thoughts?

SOPA Breaks The Internet

PROTECT-IP is a bill that has been introduced in the Senate and the House and is moving quickly through Congress. It gives the government and corporations the ability to censor the net, in the name of protecting “creativity”. The law would let the government or corporations censor entire sites– they just have to convince a judge that the site is “dedicated to copyright infringement.”

The government has already wrongly shut down sites without any recourse to the site owner. Under this bill, sharing a video with anything copyrighted in it, or what sites like Youtube and Twitter do, would be considered illegal behavior according to this bill.

According to the Congressional Budget Office, this bill would cost us $47 million tax dollars a year — that’s for a fix that won’t work, disrupts the internet, stifles innovation, shuts out diverse voices, and censors the internet. This bill is bad for creativity and does not protect your rights.

Tell Congress not to censor the internet NOW!

Godzirra Space Roll

History was made on January 1, 2012 when a small restaurant sushi chain sent the first, wait for it.. sushi roll into space.  Sticky Rice sent their popular roll, Godzirra into space as a unique marketing experience to celebrate the new year.

This was shot for a small chain of restaurants called Sticky Rice. They have a long history of doing marketing their own way and we knew they would love this idea.

In collaboration with RVA TV and Bark Marketing, Sticky Rice launched a sushi plate of their popular Godzirra roll on January 1st of this year. Six months of planning and testing went into this project as a lot of variables were at play: -60F in space, FAA regulations, overheating or freezing batteries, GPS issues, stabilization, and how to make the damn sushi stay together in high winds.

Our team is hoping for national attention and plan to make a shorter commercial for local air play. We loved the Toshiba ‘Chair in Space’ commercial and it was the basis of this project wondering if it could happen on a shoe-string budget for a small business.
